Styled Wedding Shoot

Over the summer I organized and shot my first styled wedding shoot, and it was everything I dreamed and more! I decided to do a style shoot for a few reasons. One being to keep building my portfolio. I have two weddings under my belt, but I don't think you can ever have too much experience. Secondly, I wanted to be able to shoot exactly what I wanted to. I've been wanting to photograph an intimate, boho styled wedding for a while now, so I decided I would plan one of my own.

I collaborated with some amazing vendors from around Hattiesburg. They were so great to work with and made my vision come to life. I knew what kind of dress I wanted, what kind of bouquet and florals I wanted to give it the end of summer/beginning of fall feeling, and what kind of vibe I wanted the venue to set. Needless to say, the vendors I worked with went above and beyond.

Forrest Paper and Bridal provided the stunning lace dress, and the beautiful wedding invitation suite. The venue I chose to use was Ardor. It was the simple, old industrial style that I was going for. Finally, Still Magnolia seriously made my floral dreams come true with the bouquet and also the florals to go on the backdrop. Styled shoots don't happen unless you get vendors to collaborate with you, and I got lucky with some of the best!

Now, let me tell you about the sweet couple that modeled for me. Julianna and Dalton have been together for nine years and are engaged to get married next fall. I was so excited when Julianna reached out to me about modeling for the shoot. When I saw their picture and heard their love story, I knew they would be perfect! They were total naturals in front of the camera, which is something that every photographer dreams of.

We had a blast during our shoot. One thing I love about styled shoots is that there's no pressure like on an actual wedding day. We went at our own pace and just enjoyed our time together. We listened to music, we laughed, they danced. Everything was just perfect. I wish every shoot could feel like this one did, and I cannot wait to put together another one!
